About Mr. Salman Amin
Salman Amin is executive vice president and chief marketing officer of PepsiCo. In its global portfolio of food and beverage brands, PepsiCo has 22 different brands that generate more than $1 billion each in annual retail sales. With net revenues of over $65 billion, PepsiCo’s main businesses also make hundreds of other enjoyable foods and beverages that are respected household names throughout the world.
Mr. Amin assumed this role in August 2009, and is responsible for driving global marketing strategies and plans for PepsiCo worldwide, with accountability for consumer and shopper marketing, media, insights, and marketing talent development. Mr. Amin joined PepsiCo in 1995, and has served in a variety of positions, including vice president, Marketing, Pepsi-Cola International; senior vice president, Commercial Operations, Frito Lay International; senior vice president, New Platforms, PepsiCo; and chief marketing officer, PepsiCo International. Most recently, he was president, PepsiCo United Kingdom and Ireland, where he was responsible for snack foods (Walkers), breakfast cereals (Quaker), and fruit juices (Tropicana and Copella).Before joining PepsiCo, Mr. Amin spent 10 years at Procter & Gamble, and held a variety of brand management positions working on hair care, paper, and food and beverage businesses in the U.S., Germany, Middle East and Asia.
Mr. Amin holds a Bachelor of Arts (Civil Engineering), Syracuse University and an Master of Business Administration from Kellogg School, Northwestern University. He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. Mr. Amin is a Board member of Elizabeth Arden Company.
About OPEN NY
The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN), formed in 2001, is a voluntary not-for-profit association dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and professional excellence within the Pakistani-American community. OPEN has chapters in Boston, Silicon Valley, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Chicago and New York. The various chapters of OPEN regularly organize events pertaining to current issues in business and entrepreneurship. The New York Chapter, OPEN NY, also formed in 2001, serves one of the most diverse and vibrant communities of Pakistani-Americans and other South Asians. Our membership is as diverse as the community, representing several industries such as Finance (Banking, Private Equity, VC and Hedge Funds), Consumer Products, Life Sciences, Health-care, Media, Telecoms and Technology. Over the years, we have organized major events for our constituents, focusing on a diverse range of industries and topics, including Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Women in Leadership, Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship, Media and Telecoms, etc., as well as events featuring Pakistani-American Film-makers, Fashion Designers, Musicians, Artists, etc. Our past keynote speakers have included some of the most successful entrepreneurs and professionals from the Pakistani-American community. In addition, OPEN NY has organized programs for the “younger generation” within our community, including Career Days for students, Mentor Series that allows four to five people to interact with very senior executives, as well as Entrepreneurial Workshops.
